The Story Behind the Art

Kisii soapstone exists nowhere else on earth but the hills of southwestern Kenya. Artisans mine it by hand using shovels, picks, axes, and machetes, then transform each raw piece into sculpture through patient, skilled carving. Every piece is a Fair Trade creation that supports living wages and the communities where these artisans live and work.

Each sculpture is carved from natural stone — no two are identical in color, texture, or character.
